One of the oldest surviving homes in Washington DC. This is the house that Lt. Edward "Ned " Beale purchased in 1872 after he returned to Washington. The Beale Wagon Road that he surveyed in 1857 was a major route across Arizona to California and became the path the railroads and Route 66 would follow decades later. Traces of the Beale Wagon Road can be seen from Cool Springs. This is a great web site! |
